No one died. [ Misc ]
Posted on: 2005-07-06 01:11:59, by talam

Well, the trip to Deleware is over. On the trip down, we drove through a big storm, saw Tom, nearly died (at least twice), and learned to sleep in the car at a moments notice (so I could avoid seeing all the near rear ending going on).

The Rundown. [ Misc ]
Posted on: 2005-06-08 16:06:28, by talam

Lets start with Verizon: Last week, and the week prior to it, we suffered a lot of connection drops. Some of our local friends said they has similar drops, all with Verizon. When calling Verizon they said that some maintainance was going on and things should be back to normal soon. Maybe I should have started this with Verizon DSL, at least here in Terre Haute, is insanely stable. In almost two years here at the apartment I could count the number of problems we have had with it on one hand...and still have a few fingers to spare. So last week when the connection was dropping 3-4 times a day for 1-4 hours each time, I was VERY annoyed....but it is better now.

I hate banks. [ Misc ]
Posted on: 2005-05-24 14:04:02, by talam

Well, maybe I just hate my bank. At the time when I was looking for a bank in town, they were the only bank that offered free online banking. You could pay your bills online free of charge (now for just less than the price of a stamp). Everywhere else wanted insane amounts of cash to do it, which might make sense if I wrote 50+ checks a month, but as it is, I write 3-4. Anyways, my hate...back to my hate. I hate the fact that if I were to deposit a check from a normal person, it is deposited almost as fast as I hand then the check...ok, midnight if I deposit by 2 and midnight the next night if I deposit after 2. The point is that they put the money in my account in fairly small amount of time. And the amount of money does not seem to matter, since I have deposited checks over $1000 from friends/family and they still went through without a hitch. What I hate is the fact that anytime I deposit a check from a nationally recognized firm or business it takes 5-10 business days. When I first quit Wal-Mart and got my big leaving check...it took 7 days. Now, today, after 4 days, the check from Merril Lynch finally went through. I don't understand why money coming from companies that have so much money THEY CAN NOT BOUNCE CHECKS it takes so long while they through money at me when I give them a check from a relative nobody. It just pisses me off.

People = Dumb [ Misc ]
Posted on: 2005-05-10 15:28:02, by talam

Ok, so the apartment hunt has begun again in full swing. I know, I should have been more active in this sooner, but after losing all the info I had gathered due to computer issues and the swing to try and get all the stuff done so I can get back in school, I just lost focus. Anyways, I am going through the website of a local paper looking for places, calling the ones that jump out at me, and keeping a list of the places that look appealing but either failed to meet our standards (pets, cost, etc) or offended/scared me in some way. Now most places around here range from $350-750 depending on what you are looking for and location. And with all places, certain things are included and certain things are not. They also usually tack on a number to call them. No big deal...this is the normal stuff.

Rainbow connection [ Misc ]

Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows
And what’s on the other side
Rainbow’s are visions
They’re only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we’ve been told and some chose to
Believe it
But I know they’re wrong wait and see

I need more strangers in my apartment. [ Misc ]
Posted on: 2005-03-21 11:23:18, by talam

I am really bad when it comes to building up the motivation to do things. If I am not getting paid or won't be horribly embarrased by the fact that something has not been done it is going to be put off. Now there are some things that this does not apply to like bills. But then, there are things like dishes that will keep getting put off because I don't think about them unless I am going to make food. Also, my entire desk area is getting to that point where it is only a little cluttered but will be considered messy if anything more gets put on it. I had the place looking fairly descent last week when the apartment people were calling saying they were going to show the place. Oh well, maybe I will get some motivation after I get some caffeine.

I think I am viewing this wrong. [ Misc ]
Posted on: 2005-03-14 18:27:45, by talam

I was driving to pic the wife up from work and an add for cybertipline.com came on. I am not sure if you are familiar with this site. It is set up to fight online predators of children, a very noble cause. I hate the commercials though. They usually have a conversation between two girls who have everything in common. As the commercial goes on, one of the voices starts to change into a male voice, and he sets up a meeting with no parents. It is to illustrate that anyone you meet on the net can be lying to you. Hey, that is great. But lets just think for a minute here...what if I am a fairly unimaginative middle-aged perophile who is looking for a new way to exploit young children... Hey, they have this site that teaches you all the latest anacronyms that kids use so I can sound just like them. And they even give demos on the commercials to teach me what to say and how to set things up. Sweet ass! Everytime I hear them I just imagine there is someone out there thinking this...and you know, on a more personal level, the fact that my Scout Leader when I was a kid turned out to be a pedophile DOES NOT HELP MY CYNISICM!!
