I have been playing ArtRage again. This time I finally got around to buying the non-pro version. I have a couple of in progress versions of a self-portrait that I will have to toss up eventually. Toying with some of the new features from the old version I had (mostly the stencils) lead to this theme, which I am calling 'blurb' (and 'blurb-minimal' if you click on the software link). I normally avoid warm colors, so this will probably look very different for me. Like my temp layout has been for the past couple of days, I left it wider (1000px instead of 900px) and the bar is still on the left so large vids and photos don't overflow on the bar like they used to. Even though everything but the menu got more room to play in, everything feels jammed in there, so I might be playing with margins and such over the next couple of days. Of course, I might decide I really, really hate warm colors again and completely change everything.
Royal Guard TIE Interceptor - Images - SWG - Misc
Posted on: 2009-11-20 22:15:08[ 1 comment ]Introducing my newly painted TIE Interceptor. The wife had purchased it for me some time ago, and mentioned putting it together for me since I always sucked with models. It then sat on top of my computer and was totally forgotten by both of us until a couple of days ago. I pulled it down, broke out all the pieces, and started going through the instructions. To be fair, this is a skill level 2 model, so 10 year olds should be able to build it, so it is not like it was hard at all. The only thing hard about it was the paint guide, which listed colors from A to K, then marked the model with colors from A to Z, mostly M to Z. So I totally ignore the guide and spray painted the whole thing red, black, and silver. I vaguely modeled it after the Royal Guard TIE from SWG's RotW expansion (I loved that little ship). The RG TIE had a lot more silver on it, but I guess that is what I get for not bothering to look up any pictures before I started. Doesn't matter, I like my new little TIE.

I know I have not been talking about my story much, that is mostly because of my lack of faith in my own abilities. But I have had this image in my head since long before I thought about R2, and tonight I finally decided to draw it out. I grabbed an index card, my red and black Pilots, and drew out a rough of the idea, then I went in Photoshop for about an hour. The linked image is 1680x1050, I have been wanting a new desktop image for a bit and saw this as an opportunity. My desktop is at a higher resolution than I liked here and slightly edited. I figured I would share my results, but I also figured I would explain the relevance to the story world.
Line by Line, the Library - Design - Images
Posted on: 2009-10-21 13:23:35[ More - 3 comments ]Sometimes, I think the wife likes having a househusband...especially one who likes to work at all hours of the night in Photoshop and Illustrator. This weeks task, turn the top photo here into some sort of sketch or line art for a genealogy flyer for the library. It wasn't even her flyer. Oh well, it gave me the opportunity to work at all hours in Photoshop and Illustrator, so who am I to complain. I got to make a spiffy little line art image, do some clean up on a couple of scanned images the wife drew, and messed with the flyer a little.
WoW: Imba nonsense. - WoW - Games - Images
Posted on: 2009-07-18 00:41:51[ More - 2 comments ]I try to keep my World of Warcraft posts to a minimum, which is why less than 5% of my posts include them even though about 150% of my time is devoted to it. I always figured that my audience wouldn't really want to read about it and, well, I am sort of embarrassed that I spend 150% of my time devoted to a game. But I am thinking that something, even posts about WoW, are better than nothing. So until one the fifty million applications I have sent out turns into a job, thus giving my something way more productive to do than play WoW to escape from a world that doesn't seem to want to employ me, expect more WoW posts.

I recently fell in love with ArtRage again and decided that I needed to give it a shout out since I only ever mentioned it in passing. ArtRage is a ground up painting program. But by saying 'painting program', I don't want you confuse it with MS Paint, Paint.net, Photoshop or, really, anything else. Unlike everything else I have seen, ArtRage strives for realism in application: brushes have a finite amount of paint on them, painting one color over another will bleed the colors, and understands pressure (assuming you have a device that does) and acts accordingly.

I have been developing all the rolls of film I have had laying around, and slowly scanning them into my computer. And since this post will knock off all the posts with pictures on the main page, I figured I would include one of the images I scanned (or at least a cropped version of it). This roll was taken around Erin's graduation in 2003.
Since my last post: I have voted, spent Saturday with both sets of parents, enjoyed my wife's chili (or my chili made by my wife...), played too much WoW, and really been getting my NetFlix on. I really don't have much to say other than that.

Lushbaugh mentioned that I needed a knife gnome...well, here you go. For some reason I had to animate him, but since I hate animated gifs, I refused to spend too much time on it. :)
Pictures: Sarah and Steve's wedding. - Images
Posted on: 2006-08-02 22:54:20[ 1 comment ]I have been going through my system getting things organized and came across Sarah and Steve's wedding pictures...or at least the ones we have of them. The wife had mentioned on her page that she was going to put these up, but has been fairly distracted with cleaning and writing so I figured I would put them up. I unfortunatly was not there, so I think all these were either taken by the wife or Simon. You can see them here, which is in my Gallery area.
