I have mentioned the extreme amount of time I have been spending playing EverQuest the past few weeks, but playing is not all I do. I also spend inordinate amounts of time reading about the game I am playing.

Denial is not an excuse
Posted: 2006-01-14 10:15:59, by KozzuthHehIs that suppose to be some sort of vendication / excuse? :-) Playing is playing and still the biggest form of slacking on the planet... Eh, maybe not.

Posted: 2006-01-16 14:56:25, by KozzuthOnce upon a time....Hey man, can you add some post editing features? Cause I can't spell and my grammar sucks (i.e. their when it should have been there, etc.)
Thanks!
Posted: 2006-01-16 21:32:28, by talamAndI was going to add in Post editing for users, but I ran into a couple of problems. The only way to do that is to require people to log in and authenticate that it is them posting/editing (and I would very much like to do this). The problem lies in how I wrote rantfest, it is one set of code saving information in one database across all the sites that use it. I use a combination of cookies and database flags to keep track of who is logged in where, and it is the cookies that are the problem. One domain can not access the cookies from another domain, so if you were logged onto post here on toomucheffort.com, writingingreen.com would treat you as a stranger, and vice versa. Since most of the people who visit one of the pages also visit the other, it would cause all sorts of annoyances about logging in all the time because inevitably the site you would want to post on would be the one that would have forgotten about you.
Posted: 2006-01-16 21:36:31, by talamI can edit them? That is not to say I have abandoned the idea, but it does conflict with the direction I eventually wanted to take rantfest. So I will have to decide which is more important, or if I want to split rantfest into two projects and develop them independantly. But for now, and for awhile, this is what you get.
On the plus side, if you have an error or post you are just totally embarassed over, both me and the wife have total editing poweres over everything on the site, even your posts, so you can drop a line and I can change it. (But I don't like to.)
Posted: 2006-01-17 09:11:31, by ErandomandethiusJust curious...Hmm, that's some superpower I must've missed when I was learning Rantfest 101. I guess I'd change user posts though I don't see a lot of point to it. I misspell enough random shit when I speak let alone type, so I understand. :)
