I have kinda been avoiding posting lately, and I really need to stop that. Classes have not taken off yet, so there is not yet much to talk about with them, most of the sites I check are just rehashing of old/uninterresting stuff, I haven't done anything with the page, and we just really haven't been doing much in the way of exciting or note worthy recent;y. So given the lack of everything else, we have pretty much just been playing EQ. And I am sure if I post too many of those I will get the normal "now all your going to do is sit at your computer" or "good luck having a life" comments. All I do is spend time at my computer and I don't have or want a life. That is pretty much how it has been the last 8 years, I don't foresee it changing, and I am fairly comfortable with that.
Anyways, the reason for the post: when I came to bed last night, the wife was asking what I had been doing, I quickly rattled off the basics of the last couple of hours of play, and probably because she had been sleeping for a couple of hours already, she got a little confused, then we decided that most people would be confused at the conversation, which was something similar to:
"Yeah, so I my cleric from 2 to 8 in like 20 minutes. There was this froggy there, who was an 8 SK, I was 6 at the time, boasting that if anyone needed help with the queen he was there because he had soloed her last night. Some idiot monk walked up to the queen, as if the queen would not attack her, and was getting just owned by her. She started to run, the froggy started to attack but ran when his pet died, so I layed into the queen and totally tanked her. Then I took my necro over to OT, got my level back. Then I ran over to OOT to maybe camp the AC, but there was already an SK there who was just kinda messing around. He said I could have the ring if it dropped, so I went over to kill some sisters and got about half a level before I finally logged. Oh, and Toch got 20, he was pretty happy. He is shooting for 25 by the weekend."
Ok, so maybe it was a bit rambly, I was tired. But it got us thinking about how much of a lingo the game has, and that really getting into the game can almost be like learning another language, or well maybe dialect. Even some particular class terms can be foreign to other classes. I had to explain to veteran player what aggro kiting was. He had played an enchanter and aggro kiting is more of a necro/druid tactic. And then there are terms that spring up after an expansion or take over previous ones. MM used to mean Mistmore, now it means Monster Mission. It is really easy to get confused.
