... and it was...

I now have another anime to add to my "List of Anime that I've Watched," or "L.A.W." (That worked out well... kind of scary really.) Title: "Strawberry Panic!" As weird sounding as that is, it was alright... I'm just disappointed in the ending...

Plot summary: A cute girl transfers to an all girl catholic school. While walking there she ends up taking a short cut through the woods to get there. It of course doesn't work out to well. She ends up running into a beautiful girl of whom stares at here with intense interest. I don't remember the beginning that well. Go figure. The heroine, Nagisa, finally gets to the dorms. She then meets her roommate, Tamao, and is instantly barraged with questions. This is one of the worst reviews I've every typed... Anyways, Nagisa finally meets the school "Star." It turns out to be the girl in the middle of the woods. This girl, Shizuma or Etoile ("star" in French), ends up bringing out the clutz in Nagisa. As it sounds, Nagisa is in love with Shizuma. She doesn't get this until about fourteen episodes in, but hey, it isn't like there are twelve others to make up for it. While I don't give a rat's ass for two girls loving each other, I can't get over the fact that an entire catholic school has an obsession with her (Shizuma) and that they are in a catholic school. It's like the Japanese have never really heard of what, well what I consider, catholics. Anyways, it makes some amusing shit, now doesn't it Erando? Back to the point (whatever that is), aside from everyone being obsessed with Etoile, there are a few that really love Nagisa. One of those girls is her roommate. While Nagisa is going on with her feelings for Etoile, Tamao has here indirect feelings for Nagisa. Which really makes for some fun shit.

Times passes on in the school. There are the midterms to study for and then the getting to know about each others' past. There isn't much to Nagisa's past, but there is quite a bit for Etoile. Turns out that the school has two Etoile running around at a time, but the last one had died because she had a weak body to begin with. Of course the living on can't quite get over her (and breaks down crying in front of Nagisa) but of course this just shows that she is being "healed." Something to do with the fact that her heart had became an iceberg after the other one's death, and now that she is slowly suffering she is getting better. I guess sometimes you need to use dynamite in order to see the light. That is never going to make sense to either one of you two, and I don't really care. So where the fuck was I? O, yeah. Well you see there is an election to determine which two students becomes Etoile. Nagisa and Tamao end up running in it (I don't really know exactly how this is determined, but I don't care.) Nagisa is then told off by Etoile in order for her to become the next Etoile (By the way, Nagisa is a thrid year in this school and Etoile is a sixth year. The sixth year is the final year, thus the reason behind the election.) Nagisa sucks it up and goes through with it. VERY LAST TEN MINUTES OF THE ENTIRE SERIES, RIGHT BEFORE THE CREDITS AND THE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE NEXT ETOILE: Shizuma, former Etoile now, slams open the door (big door by the way) to the cathedral, walks up to the front of the place, and holds her hand out while yelling "I love you!" The whole place is in shock and awe, but Nagisa doesn't run to her in joy or anything... instead Tamao pushes her forward and gives her a sign to go ahead... Nagisa runs to Shisuma and they start to run out of the place... Yay? No fucking "yay!" I had hopes for Tamao and Nagisa to be the ones together... but I can't complain... it was obvious that this was something they were going to do.

I say it is obvious because they didn't leave enough time for Tamao and Nagisa to actually develop anything that they would consider a relationship. One of the points of being an Etoile is being madly in love with the other Etoile. At least that is the impression that I got. Of course Nagisa wasn't just going to forget about Shizuma just because of the fact that she had left the god damn school. There was also this feeling that they would have to continue the story if Nagisa and Tamao did become Etoile.

Calls out to someone, "raving soap box, please?" *A box with "RAVING SOAP BOX" written on it is placed before me* "Thank you." *Steps on top of it* Ok, enough of that. I'm annoyed now. They made this insane, lovable, talented character, gave her a depressing background, give her the happiest ending she could ever possibly have, and as they start to actually get to love each other... and they do that... and the worst part is that I couldn't see them ending it any other way... The characteristics that they painted her with made it the only logical ending. While Tamao had several insane and weird things about her, which of course made her so loveable, she also was a selfless person. While she was overprotective, paranoid, and absurdly obsessed about Nagisa and her relationship with Shizuma, she also could never bring herself to destroying the happiness for the one she loved. It could be thought that she knows what happens to the caged bird. Sadly... I have to respect this... though it doesn't mean that I like it... This is making me depressed... aside from the fact it is a depressing thing. I mean a nineteen year old male is obsessing over the fact that the secondary character didn't get to be with the main character. I mean come on! What the fuck... Anyways, enough degrading the fuck up that I am.

"Next rambling! What do you mean I don't have enough space!" *starts to run over to the web page owner* "This doesn't even compare to Da Capo's page! What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Anyways, I was hoping to ramble on about my favorite character from the anime, but I really don't feel like it now. I'll probably end up devoting an entire rant to her, because I can. Just ignore the absurd rambling at the beginning of this paragraph, it would be too hard to explain over the internet, nor do I feel like explaining it over the internet. Really all you need to concern yourself with is that I'm a dork... Anyways, until next time... I guess.

Edit: It is kind of amusing to read these pages with all of the errors in it. Actually it is kind of pitiful... Anyways, until next time... I guess.
