Post Christmas wrap up. - Games - Misc - School
Posted on: 2006-12-30 04:50:25

Christmas went well. I totally fucked up the timing, but it is me, I do that. Had I been paying attention, I would have gone home earlier and spent more time there. Anyways, I got to see all of the wife's family and all of my family that was in town. My sleep schedule has been messed up ever since, but I am getting used to not having a real schedule. Gift exchanges when off fairly easily. I get to add more DVDs to our growing list, I got a new game to obsess over, some PJs, and a little money. I am not totally sure that the Doyle family is doing a draw again next year, and I think that is fine with everyone involved.

My new game is Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and it rocks. I have only had it a couple of days and have already spent way too much time playing it. It is definetly riveling my EQ addiction, which is impressive. I am already getting overwhelmed with quests and loving the way the skill sets works. I am trying to take a more roleplaying aspect to the game as opposed to doing everything. My character is a thief and I am going to make sure that greed motivates everything she does. Starting at the begining, the emporer freed me from jail, charged me with a quest to find his son, and was killed by agents of demon lords from another dimension...and it sounds lame saying it like that. After being freed, I promptly hit the closest city, started looking for marks, and dug around for contacts with the thieves guild. My play has pretty much been quest after quest of garnering favor with the guild with only the occasional 'good samaritan' quest on the side. One of the exceptional things about the game is the lack of a linear storyline. Sure quest lines have to be done in order, but I never have to do anything I don't want to do. This game could give months of play without ever lacking in originality.

As for EverQuest, I canceled my account. I think I am going to do a month by month thing just in case I A:) get totally overwhelmed with Oblivion and forget about so that I minimzie wasted time I am paying for, and B:) just incase I get suspended for no reason again. That being said, I did find a new hunting ground I like. I could be 60 with several AAs within the next week (58 right now), which puts me back on a good crafting tract. At 59 I can start aquiring 'success' AAs for my different trades, and at 60 I can start aquiring 'salvage' AAs so that I won't lose as much when I fail. There are also tons of other AAs that will help flesh my necro out...

I am kinda dissappointed with the whole school thing. Of the classes I need, two were available. Sadly, one has been canceled, so I am down to one. None of the other classes offered in my ara interest me at all, and the only other class offered that appeals to me requires 2 prequisite classes...fuck that. It will take me a semester to knock out the prequisites and I will be back in my core classes by then.
