GTA:SA again. - Games
Posted on: 2007-08-03 01:52:39

I have been playing a lot of GTA: San Andreas the past few days. While I have been enjoying it, as I usually do, I have found a few things that are fairly trying. The shear size is both the reason it sticks out from the other GTAs as a better game and why I don't enjoy it as much. I love swiping a motorcycle, setting the radio to the classic station, and just driving through the back country. But there are also tons of missions that are about a five minute drive/fly away from anything to get to the mission start, have a two minute cinema, require you to drive/fly another five minutes or so to get to the location of the action for the mission, mission itself may take 30 seconds...or up to around five minutes..., then another five minutes to drive back to the mission end point, and finally another five minutes back to civiliztion. It can get sort of frustrating. If I was actually better at the game, it would probably not be as annoying, but I have a tendancy to either fail the mission at the tail end of the mission or get wasted on the way back, thus have to do the drive over and over again. Luckily, the music is great (at least two stations) and full of 90's glory.

Radio stations

Rook used to listen to the talk radio station. Over and over again to the point that I think he had it memorized.

Not as good.

I loved the talk radio in GTA3 and Vice City, as I am sure the Wife will mention...over and over again. But I get bored of the San Andreas one quickly, which now that I think about it, might be her fault. :)

I love the rock and oldies rock stations, and occasionally I will switch over to the rave/house station when racing.

I don't have the radio stations memorized! Anyways, the "talk" radio station (WCTR: We Can't Talk Right) actually changes as the game goes on,(Which you may have noticed but I don't like half the people on there so I don't listen to anything....) but after you beat the game and maybe listen to the news you will notice that it will only keep repeating itself like the other two games.... O yeah I forgot the real title is "West Coast Talkshow(?) Radio" or something like that. Anyways it has been too long since school. I was lucky to find most of the typing errors in my rant (civilization).

Bonzai!!!!

Problem

No one has pointed out the most obvious problem - radio stations west of the Mississippi begin with a K not a W.

Maybe these stations existed before 1923 (had to look the year up) and therefore could keep the letters because of the grandfather clause. Or you could look at the creator of the game and where they originated, Edinburgh, Scotland, and see what they adhere to...which is nothing. But, it might explain why they have no idea about our "standard". There are also KJAH, KDST, KROSE all in the same general area as well as a bunch that don't follow any standard, Radio X, SFUR, CSR...
