WoW: Imba nonsense. - Images - WoW - Games

I try to keep my World of Warcraft posts to a minimum, which is why less than 5% of my posts include them even though about 150% of my time is devoted to it. I always figured that my audience wouldn't really want to read about it and, well, I am sort of embarrassed that I spend 150% of my time devoted to a game. But I am thinking that something, even posts about WoW, are better than nothing. So until one the fifty million applications I have sent out turns into a job, thus giving my something way more productive to do than play WoW to escape from a world that doesn't seem to want to employ me, expect more WoW posts.

Anyways, this is something that has been going through my head for some time. There is a website called http://be.imba.hu. It does a check of the gear you have equiped, looks at your gear and specializations, and tells you two things: basic things you can improve. It does this fairly well and a lot of people use it like this. It even has a nifty little graph that shows you where you gear is from (red) and what raids/dungeons you would perform well in (blue).

There is a huge problem with this though: the score. Your class/spec/gear is summed up into one rough score (464 in this pic, which is Eshne in her healing gear). The higher the number the 'better'. The problem lies in the fact that people see a number and move on. They don't really pay attention to what it means. It takes a score of around 275-300 to show up on the charts and be listed as able to run heroics (entry level dungeons for level 80 characters), but I have seen people demanding scores of 450 to run in them. So my pic, top shows what imba actually shows, bottom is what is used in game:

Does this mean you are doing well?

I am pretty happy with my gear, and it can only really go up from here. Imba seems to think I can go anywhere, but I tend to stick to much lower raid content. The guild I am in is just now starting in the lower raids and they are some of the cooler people I have met in game so I am sticking with them.
