NAS: So, I had been researching the NAS thing. I decided to go with a Synology model instead of the Netgear one I had been looking at. In addition to all the benefits of having a NAS, my end goal is have a cheap, energy efficient laser printer hooked up to it. It is all part of my desire to not have to worry about making sure a particular computer is on to either access or print files. To this end, the Synology seems to have a little better printer support, but it is about $100 more. Plus, I know me. Getting one step closer to my goal would of course push me to the next step, which would require more money. So both of these are getting put off for a bit.
Car: Another contributing factor in waiting on the NAS came from the parents in the form of a car. They got a new/used car to replace mom's Oldsmobile. The car does have a couple of problems, but after a couple of decades and over 300k miles, what car doesn't? Actually, the only major problem, as I see it, is the dash. It is all electric on rarely works, but who needs to really know how fast they are going? Other than that, it runs really well, still looks decent, and will serve me for years to come.
Mouse: The wife and I got mice yesterday, both Logitechs. Hers was a M305 and mine was the Performance MX. She loves hers but I wasn't really feeling mine...and you really should feel the difference at $100. I no longer have the Performance MX. I will probably pick up an M305 eventually, but the impulse is gone so it probably isn't going to be soon.
Lamp: I also picked up a new lamp for my drafting table. I had been looking hardcore for one of these while living in Terre Haute and couldn't find any I liked, but stumbled upon one at Staples I liked while we were meandering around. It is an adjustable arm, clamp lamp with a magnifying lens.
Ink: I think we bought more ink this weekend than we have in a long time: 4 cartridges. We got a 2-pack yesterday when we picked up the mice and the lamp, and another 2-pack today when I took my mouse back. The wife is doing a lot of family tree stuff and in turn is printing/copying a ton of stuff...which means we will probably be picking up more relatively soon.
Other: There is some other stuff in there somewhere...milk crates, books, markers, kill-a-watt, and cans of chicken are all that are popping up in my head. I will probably be doing an in depth kill-a-watt post a week or so after it arrives, and the rest of these stuff is probably either too obvious or obscure to bother with.
Yeah, I am bored now. I either need more tea, more sleep, or more both.
