Lab here at Ivy Tech, at least for the classes I have, is basically a study hall. You come in, sign in, and do whatever the hell you want. I am sure I will appreciate this in a big way later in the semester when I am trying to cram all the stuff that is due that they did not really tell us about (at least I am assuming there has to be more.), but for now, it is just dull. I pack up all my stuff, make a 20 minute trip, find the sign in sheet, find a place in lab I want to work at, get all my stuff out, spend almost 2 hours working on it, pack it all back up, find the sign in sheet again, drive the 20 minutes back home, blah blah blah. Half the time when I am here, I don't work on anything, either because I find conversing with the people around me to be more insightfull or I just don't have anything that can be worked on here. So, basically, I am spending about an hour a week going to and coming from someplace where I am not doing anything. I can do nothing at home and save money on gas and be jsut as effective.
I don't know, maybe I am just a little bitter. I actually came with a purpose today, but the supplies that were supposed to be left out for us to work on were nowhere to be found and I only brought supplies to work on that project. Oh well, I would have had to get out anyways to feed Lushbaugh's fish. I guess I can consider this the very, very long and not so scenic route.
